august 2005
Okay, so, now that everything is gone, I'll start off with a post that hopefully sums up the last ~40 days worth.

Firstly, kgen's domain is no more. What you see here is my new page/blog which I will hopefully update frequently as I have time. kgen was a name I originally took from a Genesis emulator, which I had lots of fun with. Figured that it was time to move on, so welcome to mesopixel.com!

Over the summer, I worked at a place called Blacksmith3D on a number of interop plugins with other standard modelling applications such as 3DS Max and Lightwave. I made a number of posts about how their respective APIs were kinda crummy, probably due to their old age. Along with those, I made a couple posts on common C programming errors and how one could avoid them; things like always free-ing malloc-ed memory, the different ways to define a struct, linking, and general pointer fun. Won't have the time to go over those again now, so I'll try to slip one or two into future related posts.

Also made a couple posts about my two most favourite Ghibli movies of all time: Laputa - Castle in the Sky, and Grave of the Fireflies. Made my case for the differences between films and movies; with Laputa being the best movie of all time, and GotFF being one of my favourite films. More on these later, perhaps just a one time post instead.

Which leads me up to about two weeks ago. From then on I'll repost what I can remember.

Whew!

It truly sucks to lose data, but sometimes in life, you just have to learn things the hard way.
Will try have the yet-to-be-uploaded gallery code up by next week along with the rest of the site.

Serves me right for not backing up the database before tinkering with it...ouch.
